For over 120 years the Biennale of Venice has been one of the world’s most prestigious cultural institutions. It dates back to 1895, when the first International Art Expo was held. New festivals were created in 1930: music, cinema and theater (the 1932 Venice Film Festival was the world’s very first one). The first International Architecture Festival was held in 1980, while the first Dance Biennale took place in 1999. The Venice Art and Architecture Biennale is one of the most important cultural events on an international level. Held on alternate years, it explores the world of art and the world of architecture. During the Biennale, Venice becomes an open-air stage, with pavilions and exhibits peppered all over the city, offering attendants an immersive experience.
